Men?s Hockey Swept By Wayne State

Detroit, Mich. / Michigan State Fairgrounds Coliseum - The Robert Morris University men's hockey team was swept for just the second time this season, and the first time in a College Hockey America series, as they fell to Wayne State, 2-1, Saturday night. The Warriors (7-17-0, 3-7-0 CHA) handed the Colonials (8-13-1, 5-7-0 CHA) a 7-4 loss Friday night.

Saturday's contest played to a scoreless tie through the first 40 minutes, but that changed soon after the end of the second intermission. Jason Baclig tallied his fifth goal of the season with three seconds left on a Warriors power play to erase the zeros from the scoreboard.

After it took 41:56 for the game's first goal, it took just 41 seconds for the second goal. Robert Morris senior Aaron Clarke (Peterborough, Ontario / Niagara University) tallied eighth of the year at 2:37 of the third on an assist from junior defenseman Chris Kaufman (Gig Harbor, Wash. / Helena Bighorns).

It was host Wayne State, however, who would game up the deciding score at 7:24. Dan Iliakis scored his third of the year with help from Matt Krug and Baclig for the Warriors lead and eventual winner.

Colonials senior goaltender Joe Tuset (Eagan, Minn. / Northern Michigan University) took the loss while making 27 saves. Brett Bothwell earned the win 25 saves.

Robert Morris returns to the ice for a Monday, January 29, meeting with Princeton at Hobey Baker Rink.
