#1 Mercyhurst Blanks Women's Ice Hockey 7-0

Box Score Erie, Pa. - The Robert Morris University women's ice hockey team was defeated this afternoon by #1 ranked Mercyhurst College, 7-0, in a College Hockey America contest at the Mercyhurst Ice Center in Erie, Pa.

This was the third time the Lakers shut-out the Colonials (11-16-2, 1-6-0 CHA) this season.

Sophomore Brianne McLaughlin (Sheffield Village, Oh. / Ohio Flames) and Freshman Heather Rossi (Kunkletown, Pa. / Wisconsin Wild) shared time in net during the game. McLaughlin played two periods making 36 saves on 42 shots, while Rossi finished the game, stopping 17 of 18 shots on net.

The potent Lakers offense netted seven goals in the game, scoring three in the first, three in the second and one in the third period. Angelica Lorsell, Stefanie Bourbeau, Stephanie Jones and Valerie Chouinard each registered three points in the Lakers victory.

Division I women's ice hockey scoring leader Meghan Agosta was shut-out in the game.

The Colonials were out-shot in the game 60-14, while going 0-3 on the power-play.

Both teams will meet again tomorrow, February 10, 2007, at the Mercyhurst Ice Center. Game time is scheduled for 2:00p.m.
