Moon Township, Pa. - Senior forward Aaron Clarke (Peterborough, Ontario / Niagara University) became Robert Morris University's first All-College Hockey America selection, landing a spot on the second team as announced by the conference Tuesday. The Colonials have had three players named to the CHA All-Rookie team in the first two seasons, but never before had a player named all-conference.
Clarke is tied for the team lead and is tied for sixth in the conference in points with 32. His 32 points are also the most in team history, as is his 21 assists. Fellow senior Doug Conley (East Amherst, N.Y. / Tri-City Storm) had 21 assists last season and also has 21 this season.
One record Clarke owns by himself is consecutive games with a point. The senior forward scored in 11 straight games at one point this season, tallying 15 points on five goals and 10 assists during the run.
Clarke earned CHA Offensive Player of the Week once this season after scoring a goal and two assists in the Colonials first-ever win at Bemidji State's Jon Glas Fieldhouse. To that point, he had scored in three straight games and six of the team's first eight games.
The senior assistant captain was also a finalist for the NCAA Skills Challenge at the Frozen Four. He was among the 89 finalists who made it to the fan voting stage among an original pool of 181 players.
Robert Morris finished third in the CHA regular season with a 9-10-1 conference record while posting a 13-18-2 overall mark. Both win totals were team records for RMU. The Colonials take on Bemidji State in the semifinals of the CHA Championship this Saturday, March 10, at 7:00 p.m. The tournament takes place at 95KGGO Arena in Des Moines, Iowa.
