Box Score

Boone, N.C. - The Robert Morris University field hockey team suffered their first loss of the regular season this afternoon, falling to the Appalachian State Mountaineers, 2-0, in Boone, N.C.

The Colonials (0-1) fell behind early when Mountaineers rookie Nicole Morgan connected for her third goal of the season five minutes into the first period.

Despite the quick score, Robert Morris hung tough with the home-team, holding them scoreless through the remainder of the first period.

Coming out of the halftime break, Appalachian State didn't waste any time to increase their lead, scoring ten minutes into the frame. Alicia Larkins put the home team up, 2-0, when she deflected a shot into the back of the net for the clinching score.

Appalachian State out-shot Robert Morris, 16-4, while holding the advantage in penalty corners, 7-5.

Defensively for the Colonials, senior net-minder Kate Dunlap (Centerport, Pa. / Schuylkill Valley) shined as she turned away 11 of the 13 mountaineer shots on goal.

The Colonials wrap up this weekends two-game road trip, Sunday, September 2, when they take on Radford in Radford, Va. Game time is scheduled for noon.
