Field Hockey Falls to Radford, 1-0

Radford, Va. ? The Robert Morris University field hockey team fell to Radford, 1-0, Sunday afternoon. The loss dropped the Colonials to, 0-3, on the season, while Radford improved to, 2-2, overall.

 

The first half ended scoreless as the Colonials were out shot, 5-0, over the first 35 minutes of play.

 

Alex Radford broke the 0-0 tie at the 46:16 mark of the second half with a goal. Erica Lawrence picked up the assist on the goal. Just 22 seconds later, Christine Fairchild was awarded a penalty stroke, but RMU goalkeeper Kate Dunlap (Centerport, Pa. / Schuylkill Valley) kept the Colonials in striking distance with a big save.

 

RMU was unable to capitalize on the Radford failed penalty stroke, and the match ended with the score, 1-0, in favor of Radford.

 

Dunlap made 10 saves for the Colonials, while Radford goalkeeper, Jennifer Wisniewski, stopped two shots on her way to picking up the shutout.

 

The Colonials return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 4, when they travel to Athens, Ohio to take on Ohio University at 7:00 p.m.
