Box Score Moon Township, Pa. ? The Robert Morris University field hockey team opened Northeast Conference action Friday afternoon as they hosted Lock Haven (5-3 / 1-0 NEC) at Joe Walton Stadium. Lock Haven defeated the Colonials, now 2-6 overall and 0-1 in NEC action, 2-0.
Lock Haven out shot RMU, 8-0, in the first half, but senior goalkeeper Kate Dunlap (Centerport, Pa. / Schuylkill Valley) stood on her head stopping, 5-of-6 shots. Renee Kemmerer scored the opening goal at the 22:46 mark giving the Lady Eagles a, 1-0, edge at halftime.
Dunlap came up big in the second half, making four saves on five shots. The Colonials managed two shots on goal in the second half, but could not put anything past Lock Haven goalkeeper Ali Harris. Tonia Marie James scored Lock Haven's second goal of the game just 3:10 into the second half, giving them a, 2-0, lead. Blair Wynne picked up the assist on the play.
For the game, RMU was outshot, 18-3, while Lock Haven also held the edge in penalty corners, 19-1.
The Colonials return to action Sunday Sept. 23, as they travel to Loudonville, N.Y. to take on Siena. The match is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
