Field Hockey Falls to Siena, 3-1

Loudonville, N.Y. ? The Robert Morris University field hockey team fell to Siena Sunday afternoon, 3-1. The loss dropped the Colonials record to, 2-7 overall and to 0-2 in the Northeast Conference.

 

Senior forward Gwen Dalphon (Elkton, Md. / Bohemia Manor) opened the scoring just 3:04 into the first half when she scored her first goal of the season off a penalty corner giving RMU a, 1-0 lead. Courtney Bertolone (Farmingville, N.Y. / Sachem East) and Sam Lawless (St. Louis, Mo. / Lafayette) picked up assists on the goal.

 

Siena however scored three straight goals beginning with Carli Atkinson 1:31 before the end of the first half. Andrea Caso picked up the game winner 8:56 into the second half from Rian Lively on a free pass from the top of the crease. Anne Linley made it, 3-1, in the 60th minute after a scramble in front of the net.

 

Senior goalkeeper Kate Dunlap (Centerport, Pa. / Schuylkill Valley) made six saves on nine shots for the Colonials.

 

The Colonials host Rider on Friday Sept. 28 at 1:00 p.m. at Joe Walton Stadium.
