St. Louis Edges Robert Morris, 1-0

Box Score

Evanston, Ill. - In a close match on Sautrday afternoon, the St. Louis University Billikens were able to slip past Robert Morris University's field hockey team by a score of 1-0 on the campus of Northwestern University.  Freshman goal keeper Stephanie Seeley (Louisville, Ky. / Ballard) only allowed one goal as she made nine saves on the day.

Only two minutes and 20 seconds into the game, St. Louis' Natalie Gamez fired an unassisted shot past Seeley from six yards out to score the game's only point.  Robert Morris attempted to tie the game several times in the first half as they put five shots on goal.  However, the Billiken defense was able to consistently hold strong.

In the second period, the Colonials continued the offensive pressure as they took the first four shots of the half.  St. Louis goaltender, Alex LaBarge, was forced to make four saves in just an eight-minute time span.  Then the Billikens went on the offensive, but Seeley was able to come up with five consecutive saves.

In the final minutes, Robert Morris' Sam Lawless (St. Louis, Mo. / Lafayette) put a close shot on goal, however the St. Louis defense was able to push it away.

The Colonials, now 3-5, will continue their road trip Sunday, September 21 at 1:00 p.m. when they will take on Northwestern University.
