Lock Haven Soars Past Robert Morris, 6-0

Box Score

Lock Haven, Pa. - Despite cold and wet conditions, the Robert Morris University field hockey team took to the field to face NEC opponent, Lock Haven, late Friday afternoon.  From the very start, the Lock Haven offense dominated as they blasted 36 shots in a 6-0 victory over the Colonials.

Lock Haven, the defending 2008 NEC Champion, notched its first goal eight minutes into the contest and added another two late in the first period.  The Eagles then tacked on three more scores within a 10 minute span during the second half.

The Eagles had four of their six goals scored by two of the NEC's leading scorers, Suzanne Hobart and Casey Hughes.  Hobart and Hughes each netted a pair of tallies against the Colonials.

Robert Morris, now 2-10 overall and 1-4 in NEC action, was held to just one shot on goal and not a single penalty corner in its 12th contest of the 2009 season.

Junior Stephanie Seeley (Louisville, Ky. / Ballard) made the start in goal and recorded eight saves while allowing six goals in 61 minutes.  Freshman Paige Neat (Louisville, Ky. / Christian Academy) played the last eight minutes in the cage while stopping one shot.

The Colonials will conclude home play on Friday, Oct. 23  when Rider pays a visit to Joe Walton Stadium. The contest, set for a 3:00 p.m. start, will honor the Class of 2010 with Senior Day festivities.
