Box Score Moon Township, Pa. - On a soggy Friday afternoon at Joe Walton Stadium, the Robert Morris University field hockey team hosted the Bryant University Bulldogs in its first NEC matchup of the 2009 season. The Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead into halftime and posted a 4-0 victory over the Colonials.
Bryant improves to 3-6 overall and 1-0 in the NEC with the win, while RMU falls to 1-7 overall and 0-1 in league play.
Bryant netted its first score of the day at the 15-minute mark of the first period when Courtney Landi found the back of the goal. Landi helped Bryant take a 2-0 lead 10 minutes later with her second goal of the contest as the Bulldogs took a 2-0 advantage into halftime.
Bryant wasted little time getting on the board for the third time of the afternoon with another goal three minutes into the second period of play. The Bulldogs finally capped off their scoring with a fourth goal at 45:12 of the second when Toby Maltz scored a goal.
Junior Stephanie Seeley (Louisville, Ky. / Ballard) made the start in goal and stopped eight shots before being replaced late in the contest by freshman Paige Neat (Louisville, Ky. / Christian Academy). Neat made six saves in her 24 minutes of play.
The Colonials managed five shots and were awarded six penalty corners in the loss.
Robert Morris will continue its homestand Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. in Joe Walton Stadium as NEC action continues with Monmouth.
