Boone, N.C. - After nearly an hour and a half delay due to foggy conditions, the Robert Morris University field hockey team took to the field as they faced the Mountaineers of Appalachian State.  The Mountaineers took an early 1-0 lead and never looked back as they shut out the Colonials, 2-0.

Appalachian State scored just six minutes into the contest to take a one goal lead.  Robert Morris put one shot on goal in the first 35 minutes, but headed into the half down 1-0.

At the 42 minute mark of the second period, the Mountaineers added their second goal to extend the lead to 2-0 in ASU's favor. The Colonials managed another four shots on net, but once again came up empty handed.

Junior Stephanie Seeley (Louisville, Ky. / Ballard) made eight saves and allowed both Appalachian State scores.  Overall, Robert Morris took five shots and had six penalty corner opportunities.

The Colonials (1-5-0 ; 0-0-0 NEC) return to action at Radford University on Sunday afternoon.  The game is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
