O'Malley entered the game tied with Kristen Miles atop the all-time RMU career points list with 75. It didn't take long for the veteran to stand alone in the Colonial record book. Just 10:12 into the first period, O'Malley fired a gorgeous cross-ice, neutral zone pass to freshman Thea Imbrogno (Etobicoke, Ontario / Mississauga Jr. Chiefs) that gave the rookie clear ice on the left side as she entered the offensive third. Imbrogno finished off the play with a nifty move to put Robert Morris on the scoreboard while simultaneously leaving O'Malley alone in the record book.

Even with the career point mark secured, O'Malley was not finished rewriting the Robert Morris record book. At the 13:11 mark of the second period, she hooked up with Imbrogno again although this time the senior and the freshman flipped roles. Imbrogno brought the puck into the zone on the left side and used a nice stick maneuver to evade a Laker defender before slotting the puck to O'Malley on the right doorstep. O'Malley lit the lamp, recording her 43rd career goal in the process, to move into a tie for first place with Miles on the Colonial list of career goals scored.

While she was busy setting and tying career records, O'Malley also extended her current point streak to five games, tying her career high. She collected her second multi-point effort in the last three games, both against top-five teams on the road, and her 21st career multi-point game.

Sophomore Dayna Newsom (Oakville, Ontario / Oakville Ice) made sure O'Malley would not be the only one to keep her point streak intact. Newsom recorded the second assist on O'Malley's goal to stretch her run to five straight games with at least one point. Newsom and O'Malley are tied for the team lead with 10 points apiece, and Newsom is only two points shy of her point total from her rookie campaign with 23 regular-season games remaining. Imbrogno's multi-point effort was the second of her young career and moves her into a tie for third on the squad with eight points.

Playing their third consecutive game against a team that has been ranked No. 1 this season, the Colonials fell behind early as Mercyhurst scored 1:22 into the first. Mercyhurst continued to find the back of the net over the first 20 minutes and entered the first intermission with a comfortable lead.

Despite facing a dire situation, Robert Morris battled hard with the Lakers over the next two frames and it showed in the result as the Colonials outscored the Lakers, 2-1.

Robert Morris added a third-period tally on the power play courtesy of sophomore Jennifer Kindret (Winnipeg, Manitoba / BC Breakers). Kindret was one of the many bodies in front of the goal scrambling to gain control of the puck and was able to push it past the goal line for her first tally of the season. It marked only the second time in its last 19 regulation games that Mercyhurst has allowed three goals in a game. It also was the first time in their last 42 home games against current CHA opponents that the Lakers allowed three goals in 60 minutes of play.

Along with an impressive offense performance against one of the nation's top teams, Robert Morris proved very stingy on the penalty kill as well. The Colonials held the Lakers to just one goal on eight power-play opportunities, including holding Mercyhurst scoreless on a 1:45, 5-on-3 advantage.

Robert Morris will have a chance to regroup as the Colonials have next weekend off before commencing with a six-game homestand the following weekend. RMU will next hit the ice Friday, Nov. 12, in its CHA home opener against Wayne State. Robert Morris will play two games with the Warriors before No. 1 Wisconsin visits Pittsburgh, Nov. 19-20, for a two-game set. The Colonials will wrap up the homestand with two matchups against the University of Maine, Nov. 26-27.
