It marked the first time in its last 39 games that Robert Morris scored a goal in the final 10 minutes of the third period to force overtime. With Stack's late-game heroics, the Colonials have now lost only one of their past eight meetings with the Black Bears.

For the second consecutive game, Robert Morris had a decided advantage in the shot department as the Colonials outshot Maine 43-19. After outshooting the Black Bears 44-15 Friday, RMU fired at least 40 shots in back-to-back games for the fifth time in school history. Additionally, the 34 shots allowed in the two games are the fewest RMU has ever allowed in back-to-back outings combined.

Fewer than three minutes into the game, Maine gained an early chance to go ahead as it was granted a power-play opportunity. RMU was able to kill it off without allowing a shot on goal as three different Colonials blocked shots while the only other attempt by Maine was wide of the mark. The Black Bears soon received another chance when they went on the power play for the second time in the first eight minutes of play.

Robert Morris killed off the Maine power play without allowing a shot on goal for the second consecutive time thanks in large part to sophomore Jamie Joslin (Richmond Hill, Ontario / Aurora Panthers). Joslin sacrificed her body for the team by blocking five Black Bear shots in succession to help keep the game scoreless. Joslin blocked seven shots total in the first 20 minutes of play, and the teams headed to the intermission knotted, 0-0.

RMU had an early chance to take the lead in the second when a shot by senior captain Whitney Pappas (Evergreen, Colo. / Belle Tire) hit the outside of the left post. Pappas' attempt proved to be a harbinger of things to come in the middle stanza for RMU. The Colonials earned a power play just past the midway mark of the game and had a few excellent chances to break the deadlock. Pappas fired another blast that once again drilled the left post before sophomore Kelsey Thomas Hamilton, Ontario / Hamilton Hawks) ripped a wrist shot that clanged off the right iron and somehow bounced away from further danger. The Colonials fired six shots on goal in addition to the blasts by Pappas and Thomas during the power play.

Those six attempts were part of a 20-shot barrage that RMU unleashed in the middle frame, which repeated an identical performance from Friday's contest. The 20 shots also ties the most the Colonials have ever recorded in the second period of play.

Even though it controlled the shot count in the second, RMU was on the defensive for the final two minutes as the Colonials found themselves shorthanded. Sophomore goaltender Kristen DiCiocco (Niagara Falls, Ontario / Stoney Creek Jr. Sabres) made three saves during the man advantage to ensure that the game remained scoreless heading into the second intermission.

Maine gained its fifth power play of the game fewer than four minutes into the final period and finally took advantage. Dawn Sullivan redirected a Kayla Kaluzny shot from the blue line to give the Black Bears the lead at the 3:42 mark of the third.

Despite once again having a clear margin in shots in the third, it appeared as though Maine's goal might stand up. However, RMU had other ideas. Pappas gained control of the puck in the Colonial defensive zone and sent the puck ahead along the boards to sophomore Jennifer Kindret (Winnipeg, Manitoba / BC Breakers). Kindret brought it into the offensive third and fed a nice centering pass to Stack who came streaking down the middle and flicked the puck home to tie the game. It was the second time in the past three games that Stack has scored after receiving a pass from Kindret.

With overtime looming on the horizon, Maine got a chance to end the proceedings in regulation with a power play at the 17:44 mark. Robert Morris was up to the task, though, as it once again held the Black Bears without a shot on goal to extend the game to the extra five-minute session.

The additional time saw Maine return to the power play almost immediately as the Black Bears were on the advantage just 23 seconds into overtime. RMU killed off the opportunity with two saves by DiCiocco and two blocked shots, but Maine gained another power play fewer than a minute after the first chance ended. DiCiocco again made two saves to prevent Maine from scoring and winning the game. Despite being shorthanded for more than 70 percent of overtime, Robert Morris managed to fight its way to a tie.

RMU held Maine to just a 1-for-8 mark on the power play and also won 36 of the 59 faceoffs between the teams. Senior Maria Stoa (Bloomington, Minn. / Eden Prairie) was particularly impressive as she went 16-4 at the dot.

After completing its six-game homestand Saturday, Robert Morris now departs for the longest in-season road trip in program history. The Colonials will play their next eight games away from Pittsburgh, beginning with a trip to Minnesota State next weekend, Dec. 3-4, for a two-game series.
