RMU Drops Pair of Matches in Southern Swing

Emmitsburg, Md. - The Robert Morris University women's tennis team continued its 2010 spring season with a pair of road matches, falling in a Northeast Conference contest at Mount St. Mary's, 7-0, Thursday afternoon, before dropping a 7-0 decision at George Mason. 

The pair of losses drops RMU to 2-16 overall on the 2009-10 season. 

Against the Mount, freshman Samantha Alves (Santo Andre, Brazil / Santo Andre) battled Chelsea Johnson at the No. 1 singles flight before falling, 6-4 and 6-1, while freshman Tiffany Meinert (Turtle Creek, Pa. / Oakland Catholic) won the first set at the No. 5 singles flight, 6-4, over Renee Deane before falling in sets two (6-0) and three (10-6).

In the loss to the Patriots, Alves moved down to the No. 2 singles flight and dropped a hard-fought match to Alison Wingo, 6-2 and 6-2.

Robert Morris concludes the dual-match portion of its schedule Tuesday, April 13, with a 2:00 p.m. match at Bucknell.
