Five Colonials Earn All-NEC Honors

Fairfield, Conn. - April 22, 2010 - Five members of the Robert Morris University women's lacrosse team earned post season honors at the Northeast Conference pre-tournament banquet on Thursday evening. Seniors Alana Beck (Carle Place, N.Y. / Old Dominion), Ali Gibbons (Candia, N.H. / Manchester) and Erica Webb (Arnold, Md. / Broadneck) and junior Ashley Trombetta (Sykesville, Md. / Century) were all named to the All-NEC Second Team, while freshman Tara Southworth (Westminster, Md. / Westminster High) was named to the inaugural All-NEC Rookie team. Every Colonial honored this season was a first-time award winner.

Beck had the strongest season of her career this year, tallying 43 goals and 12 assists for 55 points to lead the Colonials' attack. Her 43 goals ranks second in the RMU single-season record books and she closed out her career with an RMU single-game record of seven goals against Central Conn. State. She has tallied at least one point in every contest, is tied for second in the NEC for goals scored and is ranked sixth in the league with 3.67 points per game. The New York native also led the squad with 38 draw controls and captured a new RMU single-season record with three game-winners. She finished her career tied for third in the RMU career record books with 117 points.

Gibbons really stepped up in her senior season and led the midfield unit with 27 goals and 14 assists for 41 points, while also picking up 26 ground balls and eight caused turnovers. She finished the season with 11 multi-goal performances and recorded hat tricks in the last three games of her career. She finished her career ranked seventh in the RMU career record books with 73 points.

Webb has been RMU's starting goalie for the past four years and holds three RMU career records with an 11.54 GAA, a .476 save percentage and 537 saves. This season she captured eight double-digit save performances and finished the season with a .488 save percentage and an 11.02 GAA. Her save percentage ranked fifth in the league.

Trombetta also had a stand-out season this year and finished first on the team with 19 assists and was second on the squad with 28 goals, totaling 47 points. She was second on the team with 32 ground balls and tied for third with 14 caused turnovers. Her assist total ranked fifth in the NEC, and like Beck, also scored at least one point in every contest this season. She sits fourth in the RMU career record books with 12 free position goals.

Southworth was named to the inaugural All-NEC Rookie team after finishing the season fifth on the squad for both caused turnovers and ground balls with 12 and 24, respectively. She also chipped in four goals and seven assists and played in all 15 games.

Robert Morris finished the season with a 7-8 record and a 5-4 league mark.
