Robert Morris Claims Second Consecutive Win

Box Score Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University field hockey (2-2) knocked off Appalachian State (2-2) Friday afternoon at Joe Walton Stadium, 2-0.

Ally McGuire (Duncannon, Pa. / Susquenita) scored a first half goal from Alicia Straining (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin) to give the Colonials an early lead and Stephanie Seeley (Louisville, Ky. / Ballard) posted 11 saves to make the goal stand up. Kylie McKain (Elizabethtown, Pa. / Elizabethtown) put the game out of reach in the second half with an early goal after the intermission on an excellent cross from Chantele Crow (Dauphin, Pa. / Central Dauphin).

Robert Morris controlled the pace against the Mountaineers and outshot them 14-9. The game featured two of the top goalies in the nation with Seeley ranking third nationally among active players in career saves and Appalachian State's goalie Bridgette Street ranked first in the same category.

The win gives the Colonials their second consecutive win and matches the team's win total from a season ago. The shutout ranks as the second consecutive for the Colonials and moves Seeley streak of shutout field hockey to 161:31. The goal is the second in as many weeks for McKain and the second of her career. McGuire's goal is the second of her career and her first since her freshman campaign.

Robert Morris returns to action tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. with a matchup against La Salle at Joe Walton Stadium.
