Georgetown's Second Half Surge Bests Robert Morris, 3-2

Box Score WASHINGTON - The Robert Morris University field hockey team (2-6) grabbed an early lead against Georgetown (5-3) but it was not enough to send them to victory as the Colonials fell 3-2 on Wednesday afternoon.

Chantele Crow (Dauphin, Pa. / Central Dauphin) scored on a breakaway 12:34 into the first half to give the Colonials the early 1-0 lead. Robert Morris carried the advantage into halftime thanks to a solid defense that held the Hoyas to just one shot on net in the first frame.

Georgetown tied the game at 39:18 mark with a goal from Catherine Shugrue. Shugrue added a second goal at the 52:01 mark to give the Hoyas the lead and at 1:40 later Tierney Charlotte made it a two goal advantage with a goal off a pass from Annie Wilson.

Robert Morris battle back with a second half strike by Ally McGuire (Duncannon, Pa. / Susquenita), who scored on a pass from Kylie McKain (Elizabethtown, Pa. / Elizabethtown),  at the 55:58 mark to cut the lead to one but that is all the scoring the Colonials could manage.

Stephanie Seeley (Louisville, Ky. / Ballard) made five saves in net for Robert Morris, all coming in the second half as she faced 13 second half shots. The Colonial struggled defending the Georgetown penalty corner attack but managed to earn more attempts from the corner winning the corner battle 6-4.

Robert Morris returns to action at 1:00 p.m. Saturday as they open conference play with a road trip to Lock Haven.
