Colonials Fall to Bryant in Overtime

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Oct. 14, 2011 -The Robert Morris field hockey team dropped a 2-1 overtime contest to Bryant on Friday afternoon to kick off a three-game home stand at Joe Walton Stadium.

The Colonials (6-10 overall, 0-3 NEC) struck first in Friday's contest when freshman midfielder Jamie Hartley (Tamworth, Australia / University of Newcastle) tallied at 17:36. The newcomer tallied her team-high sixth goal of the season off a corner to put the Colonials up 1-0. Freshman midfielder Taleah Scott (Crookwell, Australia / Crookwell) set up the play with a passing attempt on the penalty corner that hit Hartley in stride charging towards the goal. Hartley's attempt from the middle of the circle would find the back of the net.

But Bryant (7-7, 1-2) would also find success on corners, tallying the equalizer and eventually the game winner off the set piece. Rosie Bird would score both of the Bulldogs' goals in the win with Emily Charpentier and Katherine Andrusin tallying assists on both goals. Bird's first of the day would come at 41:54 before the freshman forward would end the game at 81:18 in the overtime session.

Freshman goalkeeper Erin McKenzie (Lismore, Australia / University of Queensland Tech) took the loss for RMU, making four saves on six shots on goal. Megan Hancock took the win for the Bulldogs, stopping five of six shots against.

The Colonials return to action with a 12 p.m. contest against Siena on Sunday at Joe Walton Stadium.

Notes: Robert Morris held a 10-9 advantage on penalty corners while both teams would end the game with 11 shots.
