The Robert Morris men's hockey team opens the 2011-12 home schedule with a two-game, nonconference series against Quinnipiac this weekend. After taking a year off from the rivalry, the two teams once again face off in this weekend's early season action. Friday's series opener is set for a 7:05 p.m. ET start time as is Saturday's follow up. Both games will be played at Clearview Arena in the RMU Island Sports Center.

On the Horizon:

Hot Start for the Captain:
Senior forward Trevor Lewis leads the Colonials with three points (two goals, one assist) this season. The RMU captain has tallied a point in each of Robert Morris' three games this season. Lewis currently is tied for the Atlantic Hockey lead in points and goals.
Special Teams Play:
The Colonials have yet to surrender a power-play goal in 2011-12, shutting out opponents in 10 chances so far this season. That being said, Robert Morris is just playing with an advantage. The Colonials scored a power-play goal in their first man-advantage opportunity of the season but have not tallied since.
Brooks Not Wasting Time
Senior forward Tom Brooks didn't wait long to make an impact on Sunday. Brooks scored just 9:40 into his first game of the season to dig the Colonials out of a one-goal hole against Air Force. In 39 career games, Brooks has tallied nine points (five goals, four assists).
Assistant Captains Named
Earlier this week, the Robert Morris men's hockey team and head coach Derek Schooley announced that senior forward Brandon Blandina and senior defenseman James Lyle will serve as assistant captains for the 2011-12 hockey season. The duo joins senior forward Trevor Lewis, who was named team captain prior to the season.
Backstopping the Win:
Despite being outshot 30-25 on two weeks ago, the Colonials picked up the win due in part to a standout performance by junior goalkeeper Eric Levine and the RMU defense. Levine turned away 29-of-30 shots against in the winning effort to pick up a win in his first game of the season. Levine currently leads the conference in goals against average (1.00), save percentage (.967) and win percentage (1.00).
