Beachwood, Ohio / Canterbury Golf Club - The Robert Morris University men's golf team finished in a tie for eighth place at the rain-shortened Cleveland State Invitational Tuesday morning. The 54-hole event at Canterbury Golf Club's 7,102-yard par-71 course was clipped to 18 holes after persistent rains wiped out Monday's 36 holes.
Robert Morris came in wih a team score of 300, 11 strokes off the pace set by team champion Indiana University-Purdue University at Fort Wayne Mastodons 289. Cleveland State was second (294) and Austin Peay was third (295) followed by Oakland and North Dakota State (298), Appalachian State and Youngstown State (299), Robert Morris and Malone (300), South Dakota State (302), Loyola (Ill.) (303), Wright State (306), St. Bonaventure (309) and Wofford (310).
Colonial freshman Ryan Prokay (Grove City, Pa. / Grove City) finished three-over par with a 74 to finish in a tie for 15th place. Junior Brock Pompeani (Aliquippa, Pa. / Hopewell) and freshman Bo Lustig (Belle Vernon, Pa. / Belle Vernon) each carded rounds of 75 to finish tied for 24th. Juniors Brandon Pompeani (Aliquippa, Pa. / Hopewell) and Max Cahn (Nyack, N.Y. / Nyack) each came in with rounds of 76 to finish 37th.
