Moon Township, Pa. - Senior captain Trevor Moore (Port Coquitlam, British Columbia / Western Reserve Academy) of the Robert Morris University men's lacrosse team was recently named All-America Honorable Mention for a second-consecutive season by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association.
After becoming the first All-American in program history in 2010, Moore duplicated the feat this season after he was also named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Player of the Year for the second straight season.
Moore had arguably the best offensive season among all Division I players in 2011 as he leads the nation in goals per game. He threw in a single-season school record 50 scores in just 15 games to average well over a hat trick per contest (3.33). The margin between Moore's figure and the second-place leading scorer is larger than the distance between the second place and seventh place marks. Moore also reset his own single-season school record for points as he tallied 61 in his final season and currently sits fifth nationally, and first in the NEC, in points per game with 4.07. He delivered one of the finest performances in school history April 13 at Canisius when he tallied a single-game school record seven scores in a span of just 37:50. Remarkably, the Canisius contest was the middle of a three-game stretch that saw Moore record back-to-back-to-back seven-point efforts. He recorded 10 hat tricks on the year and scored at least four goals on six occasions and at least five goals on three occasions. Moore, who was twice honored in the NEC's Player of the Week category in 2011, also finished among the top 10 nationally in shooting percentage with his 43.9 percent success rate and ranked second in the NEC in game-winning goals with five.
Moore will leave RMU as the most prolific scorer in program history as he holds career records in goals (134), assists (61) and points (195). His 134 scores ranked him second nationally among active players in career goals when his season ended. He owns three of the top six single-season point totals in school history and had five career seven-point games, a school record. The attackman ended his career on a 45-game point streak, a stretch that currently stands second nationally among players that competed in 2011. He also registered multiple points, and at least one goal, in each of his last 16 games played. Moore posted 21 hat tricks in his career, tied for the program record, and also finished first all-time in game-winning goals (7) and ninth in school history in ground balls (82).
With Moore's help, Robert Morris is set to lead the nation in scoring offense for a second-consecutive year. The Colonials' goals per game average of 13.8 is far and away the best mark in Division I, more than one goal per game better than any other school. RMU's lead in the category over the two teams tied for second place is greater than the gap between second place and seventh place.
Robert Morris made its first postseason appearance in school history in 2011 as it earned a berth in the NEC Semifinals before falling, 12-11, in a double-overtime heartbreaker. While recording its third-consecutive winning season, RMU also defeated a nationally-ranked opponent for the first time in program history as the Colonials defeated NCAA Tournament participant Bucknell, handing the Bison one of their only two regulation losses of 2011.
