Box Score Moon Township, Pa. - Sept. 13, 2011 - A second half surge by Lock Haven proved to be too much for the Robert Morris field hockey team as the Colonials fell 6-0 on Tuesday at Joe Walton Stadium.
Robert Morris (2-4 overall, 0-0 NEC) and the Eagles played an evenly matched contest throughout the game's first 35 minutes, but a late Lock Haven goal from Abbey Hordendorf put the Eagles up 1-0 heading into halftime, and Lock Haven wouldn't look back. The Eagles (2-4, 0-0 Atlantic 10) would surge in the second session, notching five goals including a hat trick from Leslie Ahern to close out the contest with a 6-0 victory.
Freshman goalkeeper Erin McKenzie (Lismore, Australia / University of Queensland Tech) would make a season-high ten saves in the loss including eight in the second half. McKenzie now holds a 2-4 record in her first campaign with the Colonials. Lindsay Staufenberg carried the shutout for Lock Haven, stopping three RMU shots and improving her record to 2-3 on the season.
Freshman midfielder Jamie Hartley (Tamworth, Australia / University of Newcastle) led RMU with six shots, landing a pair of attempts on goal.
Robert Morris continues its week-long home stand on Friday against Ohio at 2 p.m. The Colonials also take on Lindenwood on Saturday at 11 a.m. before closing out the weekend against Liberty at 12 p.m.
