Moon Township, Pa. - Sept. 23, 2011 - For the fifth-consecutive season, the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association has honored the Robert Morris women's lacrosse team with its 2011 Division I Academic Squad award while four members of the Colonials program were named to the 2011 Academic Honor Roll.
"We hold our academic achievements in high regard at Robert Morris, and we take great pride in receiving this honor for the fifth year in a row," Robert Morris head women's lacrosse coach Katy Phillips said. "I am very pleased with the dedication our team has shown in the classroom, and they are all very deserving of this distinction."
To be eligible for the IWLCA Academic Squad award, teams must record a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Robert Morris, which has earned the IWLCA honor every year since 2007, posted a 3.27 GPA last season as one of 56 schools to earn the accolade.
In addition to the Academic Squad award, Robert Morris' featured four lacrosse players named to the 2011 Academic Honor Roll -- out of 187 total Division I student-athletes to earn distinction for their work in the classroom. Advertising major Emily Carlo (Cranberry Township, Pa. / Seneca Valley), communications major Colleen O'Donnell (Portland, Ore. / St. Mary's Academy), environmental science major Mallory Schulze (Bel Air, Md. / C. Milton Wright) and management major Jennifer Schulze (Bel Air, Md. / C. Milton Wright) represented the Colonials on this year's Academic Honor Roll.
