CLEVELAND – Freshman goalkeeper
Lucy Carney was named the MAC Goalkeeper of the Week after her performance in the Colonials 8-5 win over Kent State last Saturday.
Carney, a freshman from Newton, Pennsylvania, was selected as the MAC Goalkeeper of the Week after posting 11 saves in the Colonials' conference win over the Golden Flashes. Carney's 11 saves were the second time this season the keeper has recorded double-digit saves. In goal, Carney currently has a 3-3 record.
In MAC statistics, Carney ranks fourth in goals against average, allowing 10.78 goals per game, and fifth in saves per game with 6.78. Carney's .445 save percentage is the fourth-best in the conference as well.
On the season, Carney has recorded 61 saves while allowing 76 goals on 198 shots faced. Carney has played nearly 423 minutes in goal this season for RMU.
Carney is the second Colonial this season to earn player of the week honors from the MAC, with
Mia Berthoff being named the Offensive Player of the Week back on February 24. Carney is also the first goalkeeper to earn the weekly honor since joining the MAC in 2021.
