Box Score Loudonville, N.Y. - The Robert Morris University field hockey team ended its nine-game losing streak as they fought back from a second-half deficit to win over Siena 2-1 in overtime on Sunday afternoon.
After a scoreless first half that saw the Colonials outshoot Siena 12-1, it was the Saints that scored first in the 55th minute off of a penalty corner. With two minutes remaining in the game, freshman Jess Martin-Brown (Mount Gambrier, Australia) took a pass from sophomore Jamie Hartley (Tamworth, Australia) to tie the game with her seventh goal of the season.
Martin-Brown was not done as in the ninth minute of the first overtime, she gathered a rebound and put home the game winner for RMU for the team's first Northeast Conference victory. Her eighth goal of the season ties her for the single-season record with Hartley who also recorded eight goals last year.
Eight of the twelve Colonials that saw action in the field managed a shot on goal in the contest as Hartley and Martin-Brown combined for 10 of the squad's 22 attempts. Sophomore goalkeeper Erin McKenzie (Lismore, Australia) picked up her first win of the season after making three saves on the afternoon.
Robert Morris returns home for a pair of contests next weekend as they will first host Quinnipiac on Friday at 1:00 p.m. before conducting their Senior Day activities when they host Sacred Heart on Sunday at Noon.
