RMU Drops NEC Contest to Monmouth

Box Score

West Long Branch, N.J. - The Robert Morris University field hockey team fell to Monmouth in their final roadtrip of the season 5-0 on Friday afternoon.

Holding the Hawks off for the first fifteen minutes of the game, RMU would allow the first goal on a shot that snuck by goaltender Erin McKenzie (Lismore, Australia).  Ten minutes later, Monmouth would double their lead as it capitalized on a rebound off of a penalty corner.  The Colonials would manage only one shot-on-goal in the half as Jamie Hartley (Tamworth, Australia) would get the ball on net.  In the defensive zone, Hartley also recorded a defensive save to help McKenzie.

To start the second half, head coach Olivia Netzler would turn to senior goaltender Paige Neat (Louisville, Ky.) to keep the Colonials in the game.  Neat would record five saves in the half while allowing three Hawk goals.  The three Monmouth goals would come over a span of ten minutes.  The first goal came off of a deflection in the 59th minute.  The second goal would come three minutes later with a shot that got past Neat on her right side.  The fifth goal for the Hawks came in the 68th minute off of a rebound.

The Colonials will conclude their season this Sunday with a game at Saint Francis (Pa.).  Scheduled start time for the season finale is 1:00 p.m.
