Emma Baukhages (Gambrills, Md. / Indian Creek) scored three goals and added an
assist as the Robert Morris University women's lacrosse team lost an 18-9
decision against High Point University at Joe Walton Stadium Saturday
afternoon. The Colonials slip to 1-5 overall while the Panthers watch their
mark improve to 4-2.
Senior Colleen O'Donnell (Portland, Ore. / St. Mary's
Academy) and senior Courtney Sicinski (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown West)
added a goal and an assist each for the Colonials. Sophomore goalkeeper Kaitlin Pentz (Sykesville, Md. / Century) was saddled with the loss allowing 13 goals
while making five saves.
High Point was led by the eight-point performance of
Chelsea Thompson. She tallied six goals and added two assists. Mackenzie
Carroll had three goals and an assist while Sara Kuhlman tacked on a goal and
three assists.
Sophomore Lauren Roberts (Baldwinsville, N.Y. / CW Baker)
scored the first goal of the game 1:32 in to give Robert Morris a 1-0 lead.
After goals by Thompson and Kuhlman, Baukhages knotted the game at 2-2 just
under five minutes after the opening draw. Eight of the final 10 goals of the half,
however, belonged to the Panthers who pushed their lead to 10-4 at the break.
High Point scored the first six goals of the second half
to take a 16-6 lead with 19:48 left to play. The Colonials cut the lead to
eight goals, but would get no closer that 17-9 with 1:52 to play.
Robert Morris makes the short journey to Duquesne
