Prokay Holds 36-Hole Lead At Mount St. Mary's

Littlestown, Pa. / Quail Valley G.C. - Robert Morris University men's golf freshman Ryan Prokay (Grove City, Pa. / Grove City) shot his best round as a collegian, taking the individual lead and helping the Colonials move into second place at the 2012 Mount St. Mary's Spring Invitational Monday.

After a first round 73, Prokay carded the best round by an RMU player this season with a 69. The score moved him two strokes ahead of the field with a two-round 142 on the 7,027-yard par-72 layout at Quail Valley Golf Club.

Junior Brandon Pompeani (Aliquippa, Pa. / Hopewell) was tied for the first-round lead after tying his career-low with a 72 in the opening 18 holes. He came back with a respectable 75 in the second round that has him sitting in a tie for third-place with a 147 total.

Junior Max Cahn (Nyack, N.Y. / Nyack) had a consistent day, shooting a 77 and a 76 to put himself in 12th with 153 strokes. Senior Robbie Holdcroft (Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa. / State College) also had a career-best round when he finished the 18-hole circuit with 76 strokes in the first round. He added an 80 and sits 15th overall.

Playing as individuals, junior Donny Lewis (Wexford, Pa. / North Allegheny) carded a 163 (79-84) and junior Jim Davis (Wexford, Pa. / North Allegheny) has a 165 (83-82) total.
