West Point, N.Y. – Three second period goals were too much to overcome for the Robert Morris University men's hockey team as the nationally ranked Colonials fell to Army by a score of 5-0 on Friday evening.  The loss snapped a seven-game unbeaten streak for Robert Morris who last lost on November 30.

Army would pick up the first goal of the game with 60 seconds remaining in the first period on a rush that saw a loose puck fall in front of goaltender Eric Levine (Wheeling, Ill. / Pembroke Lumber Kings).  With the goal, the Black Knights would snap Levine's shutout streak that lasted over 175 minutes and spanned nine periods of hockey.

Army would pick up their second goal of the game on an odd-man rush in the second period after the Colonials failed to capitalize on their first power-play opportunity of the game.  The Black Knights would increase their lead a short time later as a deflection in front of Levine found the back of the net would make the score 3-0.  Before the second period was over, the deficit for Robert Morris would grow as Army would net a fourth goal by jamming a loose puck home.

Army would again capitalize after an unsuccessful RMU power play in the opening moments of the third period to push the score to 5-0.  The fifth goal for Army would chase Levine as redshirt-sophomore Eric Ferber (Scottsdale, Ariz. / Bridgewater Bandits) would see game action for the first time since March 5, 2011.

For the fourth-consecutive game Robert Morris was outshot, in this game it was by a 36-22 margin.  While the Colonials have gone 6-3-1 in games they have been outshot, the loss tonight was the third shutout handed to RMU this season.  Four Colonials each managed three shots on goal in the loss.  In just over 40 minutes of action, Levine would make 23 saves while allowing the five goals.  Ferber would record eight saves in relief of Levine who falls to 8-3-2 on the season.

Robert Morris concludes their road trip to Army with a contest tomorrow evening at 7:05 p.m. in West Point, N.Y.
