Colonials Look to Make Playoff Push at Home

RMU returns home this weekend for two MAAC contests, including a match-up with Bryant under the Friday night lights

Sunday, Oct. 27 – Moon Township, Pa. – Noon

The Robert Morris University field hockey team returns to Moon Township, Pa. this weekend to host Bryant on Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. and then compete against Siena on Oct. 27 at noon. 
 
History vs. Bryant
The Colonials are 1-4 overall against the Bulldogs.  RMU's only win was back in 2008 when they defeated Bryant in overtime, 3-1. 
 
History vs. Siena
RMU is 5-4 all-time against the Saints.  The most recent meeting was last season in Loudonville, N.Y. when the Colonials defeated Siena in overtime, 2-1. 
 
In Case You Missed It
The Quinnipiac Bobcats shut out RMU this past Friday in Hamden, Conn., 3-0.  Freshman Chloe McIlwaine (Belfast, Ireland / Northumbria University) and junior Julianne Alspaugh (Carlisle, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) each had three shots on goal in the contest.  The Colonials then turned around and blanked Sacred Heart in double overtime on Sunday, 1-0.  Alspaugh registered the game-winning goal off an assist from sophomore Jess Martin-Brown (Mount Gambier, Australia / University of Adelaide). 
 
Quick Hitters
  • With their 1-0 double overtime victory over Sacred Heart, the Colonials earned their eighth win of the season, which ties a program high single-season win total. 
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Emma Singer ( Harrisburg, Pa. / Susquehanna Township) made her first career start this past Sunday.  She made six saves on the afternoon, including two saves in the first overtime against the Pioneers. 
  • The last time RMU completed in a double overtime contest was back on Oct. 21, 2011 when the Colonials edged out a 2-1 victory over St. Francis (Pa.).
  • McIlwaine and Martin-Brown lead the team with 17 total points each.
  • Martin-Brown leads the Colonials in game-winning goals this season with three.
 
Coming Up
The Colonials will end the regular season at Joe Walton Stadium on Sunday, Nov. 3 when they complete against Monmouth in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) game.
