Three In Top-10; RMU Second at RMU Colonial Classic

Junior Santiago Mejia tied for individual lead with 18 holes to play.

Hopewell Township, Pa. / The Club at Shadow Lakes — The Robert Morris University men's golf team tallied a team score of 303 and sits in second place with 18 holes left to play at the RMU Colonial Classic. The event is being held at the 6,570-yard, par-72 layout at The Club at Shadow Lakes in Hopewell Township, Pa.
 
Junior Santiago Mejia (Bogota, Colombia / Blessed Hope) is tied for the tournament lead with Saint Francis University's Shane Crampton. Mejia carded four birdies on a rain-soaked course Monday afternoon to fire a one-under round of 71.
 
Saint Francis has a six stroke lead tallying a nine-over par team score of 297. RMU is second followed by Point Park (311), Notre Dame (Ohio) (317), the Robert Morris Club team (339) and Maryland Eastern Shore (344).
 
Colonials sophomore Garrett Browning (Imperial, Pa. / West Allegheny) and freshman Dean Hitt (Jackson, Mich. / Lumen Christi) find themselves firmly planted in the top-10. Browning carded a 75 while Hitt came home in 76 strokes.
 
Other team scorers include juniors Matt Gurska (Hermitage, Pa. / Kennedy Catholic) and Ryan Prokay (Grove City, Pa. / Grove City). Gurska finished the course in 81 strokes while Prokay needed 82 to play all 18 holes.
 
Playing as individuals, sophomore Dan Maier (Irwin, Pa. / Penn Trafford) had a 79 and freshman Mac Cavanaugh (West Newbury, Mass. / Pentucket Regional) carded an 82.
