Newark, Del. – The
Robert Morris University men's basketball team suffered its third consecutive defeat Saturday, dropping an 86-67 decision to Delaware at the Bob Carpenter Center.
The Colonials dipped to 3-5 overall on the 2013-14 campaign, including 1-5 on the road, while the Blue Hens improved to 4-3.
UD never trailed in the contest, jumping out to leads of 13-4 and 15-6 in the first six minutes of action before taking its first double-digit lead, 18-7, at the 11:33 mark of the first half thanks to a layup from Davon Usher.
RMU was able to rally behind the shooting of senior guard
Karvel Anderson (Elkhart, Ind. / Glen Oaks Community College), as he scored 12 points during a 16-7 surge that closed the deficit for the Colonials to 25-23 with five minutes left before the break.
The Blue Hens were able to slow down Robert Morris and answered with an 11-4 spurt to close out the first half and take a 36-27 advantage into intermission.
On two occasions in the first five minutes of the second half the Colonials trimmed their deficit to four, including 45-41 with 15:37 to play after a layup from junior forward

Delaware answered with a deciding run, outscoring RMU, 23-9, over an eight-minute stretch to open up a 68-50 lead with 7:16 to play.
Offensively the Blue Hens featured a balanced attack, as guard Jarvis Threatt scored 24 points, while Usher added 22 points. Threatt also finished with five assists, while Usher registered five steals.
Combined, the duo of Threatt and Usher finished 23-for-29 (79.3 percent) at the free-throw line as Delaware visited the stripe 37 times in the contest, converting 28 (75.7 percent). Carl Baptiste also added a double-double for UD with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Â
Anderson took home game-high honors in scoring with 25 points, converting 10 of his 16 shots from the floor, including 5-for-9 from beyond the arc. He also added three rebounds, a block and a steal.
Senior forward
Mike McFadden (Newark, N.J. / Technology) was the only other player from Robert Morris to reach double figures, scoring all 11 of his points in the second half.
RMU closes out its four-game road trip Wednesday, Dec. 4, with a 7:45 p.m. tip against Youngstown State at the Beeghly Center in Youngstown, Ohio.
