The First Word
- Robert Morris will conclude a three-game roadtrip with a single game against in-state rival Mercyhurst on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 7:05 p.m.
- Last weekend, the Colonials kicked off the three-game swing with a pair of contests at Bentley where RMU suffered a pair of losses, 1-4 and 2-7, to suffer its second sweep of the season.
- Previously, Mercyhurst hosted Sacred Heart for a pair of contests that the Lakers won, 7-1 and 4-1.

Against Mercyhurst
- The two teams last met for the final regular season game of the 2012-2013 season where they skated to a 1-1 tie after a third-period goal by Zac Lynch.
- The Colonials are winless in their last three contests against Mercyhurst, but two of those games have resulted in ties.
- When traveling north to take on the Lakers, RMU has won just one - a 4-3 win on Nov. 11, 2011 - of the five games played in Erie, Pa.
Scouting the Lakers
- Mercyhurst currently sits atop the AHA with a conference record of 7-1-0 and an overall record of 9-7-1.
- The only conference loss for the Lakers came at Canisius while they have taken down Air Force, RIT, Niagara, AIC twice, and Sacred Heart twice.
- Junior forward Matthew Zay leads Mercyhurst with nine goals, and 15 assists for 24 points in 15 games played.
- Junior goaltender Jimmy Sarjeant has started 13 of the 17 Laker contests this season to earn a record of 9-3-1 with a 2.40 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage.
The Powerless Penalty Kill
RMU has successfully killed off 38 of the 57 penalties they have taken this season.  The 66.7 percent success rate is the second lowest in the NCAA as only Alabama-Huntsville has a worse number.
Leading After Two
RMU's two wins this season came after the Colonials were leading after two periods.  Since joining the AHA, Robert Morris has lost just two of the 51 games in which it has held an advantage heading into the third period of play.  One of the two losses came last season against RIT.
Assisting the Team
Prior to the beginning of the season, head coach Derek Schooley announced that the Assistant Captain honors would be awarded on a monthly basis.  For the month of October, senior defenseman Evan Renwick held the honor before is was passed along to junior forward David Rigatti for the month of November.  This month, Rigatti maintains his "A" while junior forward Cody Wydo has also earned the honor for December.

Third Period Scoring
This season, RMU has outscored its opponents, 18-10, in the final frame.  The Colonials have more third-period goals, 18, than the total they have scored in the first two periods, 17.
57 Wins and Counting
This season's senior class needs just nine wins to set a new program record for victories by a class.  The graduating class of 2012 holds the current record with 65 victories.  This season's group of seniors currently has 57 wins, a number which is the second-most by any graduating class.
