Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University women's tennis team continued its 2013 spring season with its annual trip to the Sunshine State, dropping four matches in Orlando, Fla.
The Colonials opened the swing with a 5-2 setback to South Dakota Saturday before suffering a 6-1 loss to Bethune-Cookman Sunday. RMU closed out its trip with a pair of 7-0 defeats, falling to Gonzaga Monday and Creighton Tuesday.
Robert Morris now owns an overall record of 1-14 so far this season in dual matches.
Picking up wins in singles action against South Dakota for the Colonials were junior Carolina Mourao Teixeira (Rio De Janeiro, Brazil) and senior Samantha Alves (Rio De Janeiro, Brazil).
Mourao Teixeira earned a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Milica Pavlovic at the No. 1 singles flight, while Alves followed with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Hafsa Laraibi at the No. 3 singles.
Freshman Dounia Zinbi (Halle, Belgium) also picked up a singles victory for the Colonials during their swing in Florida, posting a 6-3, 7-5 win over Valentina Beresiarte at the No. 4 singles flight.
Robert Morris returns home to the North Athletic Complex for a six-game homestand, beginning Friday, March 15, with a Noon match against St. Francis Brooklyn.
