Vint, Joslin Named All-CHA; RMU Earns Team Honor

Erie, Pa. - At the College Hockey America (CHA) Tournament banquet conducted Thursday evening at the Hilton Garden Inn, the Robert Morris University women's hockey team was honored with a team award while two individual players took home post-season honors.

The RMU team took home its first-ever team accolade as it earned the CHA team sportsmanship award. Sophomore forward Rebecca Vint (Caledon, Ontario / Brampton Jr. Thunder) and senior defenseman Jamie Joslin (Richmond Hill, Ontario / Aurora Panthers) were voted to the All-CHA first and second teams. Vint and Joslin are just the sixth and seventh players in program history to earn first or second team honors.

Vint's spot on the All-CHA first team marks her second straight first-team honor as she was voted to the first-team last season as just a freshman. Earning her second post-season honor, Vint becomes just the third Colonial ever to claim multiple all-conference awards and is just one of three players in RMU program history to earn a first-team honor.

The sophomore has scored 13 goals and passed out 11 assists in league play this season. Currently, in the CHA standings, Vint sits second in goals, third in points (41) and third in game-winning goals (3). She is just one of five individuals in the conference who have registered a hat trick in a CHA game. On November 10, at Penn State Vint tied an RMU program record for most goals in a single contest when she found the net five times on just eight shots. For her performance against the Nittany Lions, Vint was named CHA Player of the Week for the first time of the season. She would later earned CHA Player of the Month for the month of November and would take home a second CHA Player of the Week accolade in the second week of December.

Throughout the overall season, the forward has led the Colonials offensively with 16 goals, including three power play goals, four game-winners and one shorthanded score to go along 16 assists. On the national scene, Vint sits in the top-20 in goals per game (0.53), shorthanded goals and game-winning goals.

Joslin earns the first All-CHA honor of her career as she becomes just the second defenseman in RMU history to garner a post-season award. Joslin currently ranks third among CHA defenseman in scoring as she has tallied 11 points this year in league play. The senior leads all Colonial defenseman as she has scored two goals and passed out 13 assists so far in her final season. Joslin also leads all RMU skaters in blocked shots this year as she has knocked down an overall 85 shots, 50 in league play, throughout her senior campaign.

Arguably the best defenseman in Colonial history, Joslin ranks in the career top-three in all defenseman statistical categories and has also set three single season records for defensemen. She has now registered the most points ever by a Colonials defenseman with 44 and has also set a new career RMU record for career goals by a defenseman with 13. Joslin currently ranks third all-time in assists by a defenseman with 31 career assists.

During her junior campaign, Joslin set a new program record for points by a defenseman in a single season with 16. She currently sits third in points in the single season record books as she has tallied 15 points this year. Joslin holds the top two spots for goals by a defenseman in a season. In her sophomore year, she scored six goals to set a new school record to then tallied five goals last season to hold down the first and second rankings in goals scored by a defenseman in one season. Lastly, this season, Joslin has set yet another program record, this time for assists by a defenseman in single season with 13.

Besides earning the RMU program's first-ever sportsmanship award, the 2012-13 squad have achieved many feats on the ice. This year's team has set a new season record for shots on goal with 1,133 and currently ranks second in single season history with 15 wins. Currently, as a unit, the Colonials have tallied 211 points and 131 assists this year, ranking third all-time in both categories.

Robert Morris will look to add to its current four-game win streak as RMU will faceoff against Mercyhurst, tomorrow, in the CHA Semifinal matchup. Puck drop between the fourth-seeded Colonials and one-seeded Lakers is set for 1:30 p.m. at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
