Colonials Finish Seventh At Mount Invitational

Littlestown, Pa. / Quail Valley G.C. — The Robert Morris University men's golf team finished with a three-round total of 924 to finish seventh at the Mount St. Mary's Spring Invitational played at Quail Valley Golf Course in Littlestown, Pa. Binghamton took first at the 12-team event while Bowling Green's Wes Gates took medalist honors with a three-under par 213.

Senior Brandon Pompeani (Aliquippa, Pa. / Hopewell) led the Colonials contingent by finishing in a tie for 18th. His final round 76 on the 7,027-yard, par 72 course was the low score of the day for RMU as was his even-par 72 in the first round yesterday.

Senior Brock Pompeani (Aliquippa, Pa. / Hopewell) finished 23rd after carding a final round score of 80, one of three eight-over rounds posted by Robert Morris players Tuesday. Brock Pompeani had a second-round 74 to accumulate 230 total strokes in 54 holes. Senior Kyle Peters (Charleston, S.C. / James Island) recorded his second consecutive 79 Tuesday and finished in a tie for 29th, totaling 233 strokes.

Freshman Matt Gurska (Hermitage, Pa. / Kennedy Catholic) tacked on two strokes in each round of the event, shooting 76-78-80 to finish tied for 32nd. He had a 234 total. Freshman Dan Maier (Irwin, Pa. / Penn Trafford) also carded an 80 in the final round and tied for 46th with a 243 total. He scored 84 and 79 in the first two rounds.
