Mt. Pleasant, Mich. – The Robert Morris University field hockey team fell to Central Michigan, 2-0, in the Colonials' 2013 season opening contest.

The Chippewas jumped in front early with a goal from Mary Alice Moore 2:39 into the game, then 18 minutes and some change later, Kaysie Gregory – who assisted on Moore's tally – knocked in a strike of her own. Central Michigan outshot Robert Morris in the first half, 6-3, and also held a big 6-1 advantage in penalty corners.

The Colonials fought back in the final 35 minutes, holding the upper hand in shots, 6-2. Junior Jamie Hartley (Tamworth, Australia / University of Newcastle) tallied five of those attempts, while sophomore Sophie Watt (Sawtell, Australia / John Paul College) placed two shots on target.

Junior Erin McKenzie (Lismore, Australia / University of Queensland Tech) started in net on opening day for the second time in her career and played the full 70 minutes, stopping five shots.

Robert Morris will look to rebound tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 p.m. against Saint Louis. The Colonials have had the Billikens' number of late, as they currently hold a three-game winning streak against Saint Louis, which includes a 4-1 victory from last season.
