Box Score

Mt. Pleasant, Mich. – The Robert Morris University field hockey team earned their first win of the 2013 season as they defeated Saint Louis, 3-0.

Junior Jamie Hartley (Tamworth, Australia / University of Newcastle) and sophomore Jess Martin-Brown (Mount Gambier, Australia / University of Adelaide) each dented the scoreboard for the Colonials. Hartley tallied two goals in the contest, and assisted on Martin-Brown's. Junior Julianne Alspaugh (Carlisle, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) and sophomore Nicole Mackin (Louisville, Ky. / Sacred Heart Academy) added helpers on Hartley's scores.

Martin-Brown notched the first Robert Morris goal 26:33 into the game, when Hartley doubled the score with her own strike right before the first half. Hartley later added her second goal five minutes into the second half, which gave junior goalkeeper Erin McKenzie (Lismore, Australia / University of Queensland Tech) more than enough breathing room for the remainder of the contest.

McKenzie faced just two shots on net – a mark that RMU quintupled over the course of 70 minutes. The Billikens were given two penalty corners in the second half, but weren't able to capitalize on either of them.

The Colonials will look to start a winning streak next weekend in the Hoosier State. Robert Morris will face Ball State at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6.
