Box Score

Lock Haven, Pa. – The Robert Morris University field hockey team fell to Lock Haven, 4-2, this afternoon, giving the Bald Eagles their 10th straight win over the Colonials.

Lock Haven dented the scoreboard first as Taylor Kennedy in the 5th minute off a penalty corner. The 1-0 score would hold for the rest of the first half, but RMU would tie it early in the second half as freshman Chloe McIlwaine (Belfast, Ireland / Northumbria University) tapped in a penalty corner pass from junior Jamie Hartley (Tamworth, Australia / University of Newcastle).

Kelly Harsh would push the Bald Eagles back on top in the 44th minute, as she deflected a Rachel Valentine shot off a penalty corner. However, just a minute later, junior Taleah Scott (Crookwell, Australia / Crookwell) picked up her second goal in two games to tie the game at 2-2.

Both teams wouldn't give an inch for the next ten minutes, then Lock Haven took their third lead of the afternoon with Lydia George's unassisted strike off a rebound. The Bald Eagles would put the game away in the 67th minute as Harsh scored off a penalty stroke to notch her second goal of the game.

"Lock Haven had a ton of speed and put a lot of pressure on us," said head coach Olivia Netzler. "I was proud of the way we stayed in the match and competed for the win."

Lock Haven held advantages over the Colonials in shots (15 to 10), shots on goal (10 to 6), and penalty corners (8 to 6).

RMU returns to the friendly confines of Joe Walton Stadium next weekend, as they'll play their first two home games of the 2013 season. The Colonials will take on Towson at noon on Friday, and then cap off the home stand with a noon contest against Ohio next Sunday.
