RMU Junior Wins Free Textbooks!

Student hits halfcourt shot at halftime of RMU vs. Cleveland State Basketball game

Moon Township, Pa. - Robert Morris University junior Lee Kunkelswished a half-court shot during intermission of the RMU-Cleveland State men's basketball game in the Charles L. Sewall Center on Thursday, Dec. 8. With the bomb, the junior communications major wins free text books for the spring semester of 2012 thanks to the RMU Barnes & Noble Campus Bookstore and the University.

"My Mom and Dad are very happy," said Kunkel a few days after burying the shot. "It is very cool that RMU is willing to do contests like this, and the free books will really help me out. When I let go, I just hoped that I didn't air ball it. It felt good leaving my hands."

And when it went in? "I was really excited. I turned around and the whole student section was going nuts!"

Kunkel is active on campus and can be seen at just about every RMU home athletic event. He's president of the Colonial Crazies student fan club, an intramural referee and a member of the Talent Management Association.

The contest itself has been administered and will continue to be administered at every Robert Morris home men's and women's basketball regular season game this school year. Students are encouraged to sign up upon entering the Sewall Center at a table on the east court. One contestant is chosen each game, and that contestant gets just one shot.

Needless to say, Kunkel made his one shot count.
