Preview
The Robert Morris University field hockey team continues their season opening road trip as they travel to Muncie, Ind. to face the Ball State Cardinals on Friday, Sept. 6 and Colgate Red Raiders on Saturday, Sept. 7.

Time Change
The game against Colgate was originally scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m., but it has been moved up to Noon.

History vs. Ball State
In their only contest, the Cardinals defeated the Colonials, 5-0, in 2010. RMU senior Eloise Irwin (Dublin, Ohio / Dublin) is the only current Colonial that has played against Ball State.

History vs. Colgate
The Red Raiders hold a 2-1 advantage over the Colonials, but RMU won the last match-up in 2011, 3-2, in overtime. Saturday will mark the first time the two teams have played at a neutral site – the first two contests were held in Hamilton, N.Y., while the victory in 2011 was played at Joe Walton Stadium.

In Case You Missed It
The Colonials went 1-1 on opening weekend, dropping a 2-0 contest to Central Michigan last Friday, but then rebounded the following afternoon with a 3-0 victory over Saint Louis. Sophomore Jess Martin-Brown (Mount Gambier, Australia / University of Adelaide) scored the first goal for RMU on the season, and then junior Jamie Hartley (Tamworth, Australia / University of Newcastle) tallied the next two scores against the Billikens. Fellow junior Erin McKenzie (Lismore, Australia / University of Queensland Tech) earned the shutout against Saint Louis.

Quick Hitters

  • When Jamie Hartley finds the back of the net next, she will set a new school record for career goals. Her 16 scores currently tie her with Chantelle Crow, who donned the Colonials' colors from 2008-11.
  • This is the third time in the last six seasons that RMU has started off the season with a 1-1 record. The Colonials kicked off last year's campaign with a season opening split, then swept Appalachian State and Saint Louis the following weekend.
  • Jess Martin-Brown scored a goal for the second straight opening weekend. Last year as a freshman, she tallied both scores in a 2-0 victory over Radford.
  • In the Colonials' 3-0 win over Saint Louis, Erin McKenzie picked up the third shutout of her career. Her first two came in her freshman season against nationally-ranked Ohio and Liberty.
  • RMU is currently on the second longest road trip in program history, as they play away from Joe Walton Stadium for their first eight games.

Coming Up
The Colonials return to the Hoosier State next weekend for another double-header. RMU will play in Bloomington, Ind. on Saturday, Sept. 14 against Missouri State at 2:00 p.m., and then face the hosts, Indiana, on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 2:00 p.m.
