Official Results

Moon Township, Pa. –
Junior Rachael Kotula (East Berlin, Pa. / Bermudian Springs) became the second Robert Morris University track & field student-athlete in as many days to qualify for the NCAA Championships in the javelin, as she placed 11th at the 2013 NCAA East Preliminary Round on the campus of North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, N.C.

Kotula posted a throw of 47.04 meters (154'4") on her second attempt of the afternoon to post the top mark in the first of three flights, and she was also the only student-athlete from the first flight to qualify for the NCAA Championships.

The toss also marked a personal best for Kotula and ranks eighth in the event in the Robert Morris record book.

Kotula joins junior Chris Carper (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona) of the RMU men's track & field squad to qualify for the NCAA Championships, as he turned the trick Friday.

The 2013 NCAA Championships will take place Wednesday, June 5, through Saturday, June 8, in Eugene, Oregon.
Kotula's previous season-best mark of the 2013 season came at the 2013 Northeast Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, where she posted a mark of 45.46 meters (149'2"), which earned her second place and All-NEC Second Team accolades.
