Muncie, Ind. – The Robert Morris University field hockey team earned their third-straight win this afternoon, defeating Colgate, 2-0.
Sophomore Jess Martin-Brown (Mount Gambier, Australia / University of Adelaide) put the Colonials on top in the fifth minute with her second goal in as many days. Fellow sophomore Sophie Watt (Sawtell, Australia / John Paul College) was credited with the assist, as Martin-Brown's shot came off a penalty corner rebound.
RMU extended that lead five minutes later as freshman Chloe McIlwaine (Belfast, Ireland / Northumbria University) buried a shot into the right side of the net, collecting the first goal of her career. Taleah Scott (Crookwell, Australia / Crookwell) picked up the helper on the score, giving her the first point of her junior campaign.
Junior Erin McKenzie (Lismore, Australia / University of Queensland Tech) collected her third-straight shutout, as she stopped all four Red Raider scoring chances.
The Colonials held advantages over Colgate in shots (19 to 9), shots on goal (12 to 4), and penalty corners (9 to 6).
RMU will return to the Hoosier State next weekend. On Saturday, the Colonials will Missouri State at 2:00 p.m., then take on Indiana at 2:00 p.m. Sunday.
