Moon Township, Pa. –
Freshman forward Jeremiah Worthem (Philadelphia, Pa. / Math, Civics & Sciences) of the Robert Morris University men's basketball team was named the Choice Hotels Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for the second time this season Monday.

Worthem was bestowed the honor after helping lead the Colonials to their first 4-0 start in the Northeast Conference since 2005-06 by averaging 16.5 points and 3.5 rebounds while shooting 62.5 percent (10-for-16) from the field and 91.7 percent (11-for-12) from the free-throw line in wins over Saint Francis U. (1/16/14) and Mount St. Mary's (1/18/14) last week.

In a 73-68 victory over the Red Flash at the Charles L. Sewall Center, Worthem contributed 12 points and five rebounds in 26 minutes of action. He connected for a key three-pointer as part of a 19-3 run to close the game that allowed RMU to climb out of an 11-point deficit, and his pair at the free-throw line with just five seconds to play helped seal the victory.

Two days later in a 77-69 win at Mount St. Mary's, Worthem paced Robert Morris with a career-high 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the floor and a perfect 6-for-6 performance at the stripe. Worthem ignited a 16-5 run for the Colonials with a three-pointer that tied the game, 52-52, and scored seven consecutive points during the surge.

On the 2013-14 campaign, Worthem is averaging 8.9 points and 4.1 rebounds per game and in four league games this season is providing RMU with averages of 12.0 points and 4.3 caroms per contest while shooting 51.7 percent (15-for-29) from the field and 87.5 percent (14-for-16) at the free-throw line.

RMU (9-10, 4-0 NEC) returns home to the Sewall Center and opens a four-game homestand Thursday, Jan. 23, with a 7:00 p.m. tip against Sacred Heart.
