Guyett Named NEC Field Athlete of the Week

Sophomore honored after qualifying for ECAC Championships

Moon Township, Pa. – Sophomore Jessica Guyett (Washington Court House, Ohio / Washington) of the Robert Morris University women's indoor track & field team was selected as the Northeast Conference (NEC) Field Athlete of the Week as announced by the league.

Guyett's selection, combined with freshman April Krivoniak's (Greensburg, Pa. / Latrobe) award two weeks ago, helped RMU break new ground. This marks the first time that more than one Colonial was honored in the Field Athlete of the Week category in a single indoor season.

Guyett was one of five Colonials to win an event at the Marietta Open this past weekend. Her career-best heave of 13.51 meters in the shot put qualified her for the ECAC Championships. She became only the second NEC athlete to qualify for the ECAC's in the shot put this season, with the only other one being Krivoniak. Her toss was the sixth-longest in school history.

Guyett's toss also gave RMU the top three, and four of the top five, marks in the shot put this season in the NEC.

Guyett and her Colonial teammates will next be in action this weekend when they take part in the Penn State National meet. The event begins Friday, Jan. 31, and will conclude Saturday, Feb. 1.
