Moon Township, Pa. – A total of 81 Robert Morris University student-athletes were named to the 2013 Northeast Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll Wednesday, including a league-high 27 that earned spots on the 2013 NEC Fall Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.
 
To be eligible for the academic honor roll, a student-athlete that participates in a fall sport must own a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.20 or better. Likewise, to be named to the commissioner's honor roll, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or better.
 
Fall sports recognized by the NEC include men's and women's cross country, football, men's and women's soccer and volleyball.
 
For RMU, seven student-athletes from the women's soccer team, five from women's cross country, five from volleyball, four from men's soccer, three from men's cross country and three from football earned spots on the 2013 NEC Fall Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.
 
Robert Morris' 27 student-athletes on the Commission's Honor Roll was the highest figure of any conference school. This marks the fifth consecutive year that RMU has led the league in selections to the Fall Commissioner's Honor Roll.
 
The Robert Morris women's soccer squad is led by senior Leah Prentice (Gaithersburg, Md. / Quince Orchard), who owns a 3.95 GPA as a psychology major. Sophomore Lauren Pietrowski (Shillington, Pa. / Governor Mifflin) studies nursing and has compiled a 3.92 cumulative GPA while senior Alexa Sarsfield (Springdale, Pa. / Springdale) has posted a 3.91 GPA while double-majoring in marketing and management.
 
For the RMU women's cross country team, sophomore Evyn Selden (Grove City, Pa. / Grove City) owns a perfect 4.00 GPA as an actuarial science major while juniors Brianna Iannarelli (McDonald, Pa. / Canon-McMillan) and Alexandra Zielinski (Buffalo, N.Y. / West Seneca East) each have compiled a 3.86 GPA as a nursing major.
 
The volleyball program is led by freshman April Krivoniak (Greensburg, Pa. / Latrobe), who owns a perfect 4.00 GPA as an engineering major. Juniors Erica Robb (Novi, Mich. / Novi) and Melissa Bograd (Lemont, Ill. / Lemont) have compiled 3.94 and 3.89 GPA's, respectively. Robb is a special education major while Bograd studies accounting.
 
Freshmen Curran Edland (Whitefish, Mont. / Whitefish), Joseph Kuta (Mississauga, Ontario / St. Joan of Arc) and Jacob Hanley (Windber, Pa. / Windber) led the men's soccer team. Curran has tallied a 3.93 GPA as an engineering major, Kuta posted a 3.87 GPA as an economics major and Hanley notched a 3.81 GPA as a marketing major.
 
The men's cross country program was led by freshmen Matthew Haupt (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Our Lady of Sacred Heart) and Ryan Hertzog (Glenville, Pa. / South Western) as each carries a 3.95 GPA as an engineering major. Junior Darryl Jones (Blairsville, Pa. / Blairsville) owns a 3.89 GPA as an engineering major.
 
For the RMU football team, junior Nick Faraci (McDonald, Pa. / South Fayette) owns a 3.94 GPA as a nursing major. Freshmen Joe Carroll (Jefferson Hills, Pa. / Thomas Jefferson) and Luke Brumbaugh (McDonald, Pa. / Seton LaSalle) have tallied a 3.88 and 3.81 GPA's, respectively. Carroll is a double major in management and accounting while Brumbaugh is currently an undeclared business major.
