Box Score

Wentzville, Mo.Robert Morris University women's hockey junior forward Rebecca Vint (Caledon, Ontario / Brampton Junior Thunder) tallied her second hat trick in as many games, guiding the Colonials to a 6-1 win over Lindenwood in College Hockey America (CHA) play this evening.

No. 8 Robert Morris (21-4-2, 10-2-1 CHA) continued its recent offensive success, scoring three or more goals for the fourth-straight game.

After a lackluster first period in their previous game at Mercyhurst, RMU made sure not to get off to a slow start in tonight's contest. The Colonials outshot Lindenwood (2-21-2, 2-10-1 CHA), 13-3, through the first 20 minutes and tallied the first of three from Vint less than four minutes into the frame. The junior forward carried the puck down the left side, then dangled it to her right side as she skated across the crease, before lofting it over Lions goaltender Nicole Hensley's shoulder.

RMU stretched its lead to 2-0 midway through the second period. Freshman forward Brittany Howard (St. Thomas, Ontario / Burlington Jr. Barracudas) found junior forward Katie Fergus (Oakville, Ontario / Burlington Jr. Barracudas) with a centering pass towards the crease, helping Fergus find the back of the net for her fourth goal of the season and her sixth tally all-time against Lindenwood.

Not satisfied with a 2-0 advantage, the Colonials exploded for four goals in the final stanza. Howard broke a six-game goalless streak by lighting the lamp a minute and a half into the frame, but Lindenwood cut the deficit to two with a tally from Alyssa West.

Vint then completed the third hat trick of her career with an even-strength goal and a power play score. Senior assistant captain Thea Imbrogno (Etobicoke, Ontario / Mississauga Jr. Chiefs) notched the assist on the even-strength tally, while Howard and sophomore forward Ashley Vesci (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Lawrence Academy [Mass.]) earned helpers on the 5-on-4 advantage. Those two goals from the junior forward came just 41 seconds after each other.

33 seconds after Vint's third tally, it was Vesci's turn to get into the act as the Pittsburgh native lit the lamp off passes from Fergus and senior assistant captain Brandi Pollock (Virden, Manitoba / Westman Wildcats).

Tonight's six-goal effort forced a reshuffling of the record books – something that has become very common this season.

Vint's three goals were the 18th, 19th, and 20th of her season, moving her past Brianna Delaney (2008-09) and Sara O'Malley (2009-10) for second in program history in single-season goals. The junior forward currently holds the record with 22, which was set in her freshman campaign (2011-12).

In addition, the three goals moved Vint to 33 points on the season, which ties her mark from 2012-13 and is good enough for fourth in program history.

Howard tied Vint (2011-12) for the single-season school record for assists (22) with two helpers on the evening. The rookie forward's third period goal gave her three points for the game, moving her to third in the single-season record books for points (35) over Vint (12-13) and Delaney (08-09).

Imbrogno is now one assist shy of tying Delaney's career record of 68, after notching two helpers in the contest.

Robert Morris returns to the ice tomorrow afternoon at Lindenwood for its final regular-season meeting with the Lions. Tomorrow's contest is scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. face-off from Lindenwood Ice Arena.
