Bethany Ledford (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon) and sophomore
Olivia Loy (Lemoyne, Pa. / Cedar Cliff) each set a new school record in the pole vault Friday as the
Robert Morris University women's track & field team took part in the Zips Invitational in Akron, Ohio.
Ledford and Loy each cleared 3.74 meters (12'3.25") in the pole vault to establish a new school mark in the event. Loy finished eight for the Colonials, while Ledford placed ninth.
In the jumps, junior
Chartice Wyatt (Johnstown, Pa. / Greater Johnstown) finished fifth in the triple jump and eighth in the long jump, posting a leap of 10.42 meters (34'2.25") in the triple and a mark of 5.28 meters (17'4") in the long.
Earning bronze in the shot put at the Zips Invitational was sophomore
Jessica Guyett (Washington Court House, Ohio / Washington), who recorded a throw of 13.13 meters (43'1"). Guyett was followed in the event by senior
Rachael Kotula (East Berlin, Pa. / Bermudian Springs) and junior
Aubree Ray (Middletown, Pa. / Middletown Area), who finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
Kotula posted a throw of 13.07 meters (42'10.75"), while Ray finished at 12.87 meters (42'2.75"). Kotula also took part in the weight throw, finishing fifth with a toss of 14.11 meters (46'3.50").
Sophomore
Brittany Shay (Beaver, Pa. / Beaver Area) highlighted the track events for Robert Morris, earning fifth in the 800-meter with a time of 2:23.47.
The Colonials wrap up their 2013-14 indoor campaign by taking part in the IC4A/ECAC Championships, which take place March 7-9, 2014, in Boston, Mass.
