Pittsburgh, Pa. – Robert Morris University women's hockey senior assistant captain Thea Imbrogno (Etobicoke, Ontario / Mississauga Jr. Chiefs) broke Brianna Delaney's (2008-12) program record for career assists in the Colonials' 3-3 tie with Syracuse this evening.

No. 9/8 Robert Morris (21-5-3, 10-3-2 CHA) stayed undefeated in overtime contests this season (1-0-3) and earned its second tie against Syracuse (15-11-3, 6-6-3 CHA) of the 2013-14 campaign.

The Colonials and Orange played an even first 17 minutes, but junior forward Katie Fergus (Oakville, Ontario / Burlington Jr. Barracudas) changed that with her second goal of the season. Senior defenseman Kylie St. Louis (Windsor, Ontario / Southwest Wildcats) carried the puck into RMU offensive zone and fired a shot that was saved by Syracuse goaltender Jenesica Drinkwater, but the rebound trickled to junior forward Katelyn Scott (Brighton, Mich. / Belle Tire). Scott's shot was then pushed away by Drinkwater, but the puck found its way to Fergus, who buried it for an early 1-0 lead.

A minute later, the puck found St. Louis' stick on another offensive attack. The senior passed it up to her classmate Imbrogno to create a 2-on-1 rush, then the senior assistant captain found freshman forward Brittany Howard (St. Thomas, Ontario / Burlington Jr. Barracudas). Howard caught Drinkwater off-balance, then lofted a back-hander over the Orange netminder's left shoulder to make it 2-0.

The tides changed in the second period as Melissa Piacentini notched goals at the 2:44 and 6:55 mark to tie the game at 2-2.

However, Howard made sure the Colonials would head back to the lockerroom with a lead as she lit the lamp for the second time with 7:41 remaining in the second stanza. With Nicole Renault and Jessica Sibley in the box for respective roughing and checking calls, Howard gathered a pass from senior captain Kristen Richards (Toronto, Ontario / Niagara University) and rifled a shot that snuck past Drinkwater.

Imbrogno earned a secondary assist on the goal, giving her the historic 69th of her career.

RMU held off the Syracuse attack for half of the third period, but with 8:32 remaining Britney Krebs knotted things up at three a piece with a shot that grazed through freshman goaltender Jessica Dodds' (London, Ontario / London Jr. Devilettes) five-hole.

With minutes remaining in regulation, the Orange kept the pressure on the Colonials in search of the game-winning goal. However, Dodds would make three big saves, and blocked shots from Scott and senior assistant captain Brandi Pollock (Virden, Manitoba / Westman Wildcats) would help send the game to overtime.

Not many chances were to be found in the overtime period. Both Howard and senior defenseman Anneline Lauziere (St. Thomas, Ontario / London Jr. Devilettes) rifled shot attempts that went wide, while junior defenseman Kelsey Gunn (Smith Falls, Ontario / Niagara University) found Drinkwater's padding with an attempt.

Dodds moved to 18-2-3 on her rookie campaign by stopping a career-high 43 shots.

Robert Morris returns to the ice tomorrow afternoon for the final day of "Skate for the Cure" weekend. The contest with Syracuse is scheduled for a 3:05 p.m. face-off from 84 Lumber Arena.
