Yulia Vasilyeva (Volgograd, Russia) won one event and tied a school record in another to lead the
Robert Morris University women's indoor track & field team on the second and final day of competition at the Northeast Conference Championships at Prince George's S&L Complex.
RMU finished in third place in the event with a point total of 95, seven points out of second. The finish marks the best performance by a Colonial squad in the NEC Indoor Championships since 2001.
Vasilyeva won the NEC title in the triple jump for the second straight year. Her winning mark of 11.84 meters was the third-best performance in school history. Also, she beat out the second-place finisher in the triple jump by .48 meters, which was greater than the distance from second place to eighth place.
Vasilyeva also took second place in the high jump and tied her own school record with a height of 1.70 meters. The mark, which she last achieved at the NEC Championships two years ago, also qualified her for the ECAC Championships in that event.
RMU's distance medley relay team claimed third place in a time of 12:27.26, the second-fastest mark in school history and the best in over a decade.
